Does Radiant Barrier Spray Work?

Does radiant barrier spray work? Yes, ofcourse it does work. Let's try to understand how it all comes together.
A radiant barrier is a reflective coating which is applied to the base of a roof. There are many different types and ways to install one. Spray on and sheet sprays are the two main types. Sheet radiant barriers are nothing but large rolls which can be rolled out in your attic. You can lay them directly on the insulation, nail them to the bottom of the roof or you can hang them from rafter supports. This radiant barrier sometimes is used beneath shingles. You can roll out a sheet radiant barrier on the roof but beneath the shingles where there is a reroofing project or a new construction.

The second type of radiant barrier is spray on, which as the name suggests is sprayed on the inner side of the roof like paint. The advantages of this type of radiant barrier are that it is durable and easy to install. Heat is reflected by this paint as it is mixed with metal flecking which has the property to reflect heat. The only disadvantage of spray on radiant barriers is that they might not be able to reflect heat as effectively as installed sheets can. But, many experts feel many people will go with spray on radiant barriers for their durability and easy installation.

The same basic principle is used by both the radiant barriers. As the heat is reflected away from your house, it will keep you insulated from heat. It will reduce the thermal radiation passing through your insulation, thus keeping your house warm. The primary intention of the radiant barrier is to keep heat out, and it doesn't show noteworthy benefits in dropping heating costs for those living in cold climates. That being said, it could make a big difference on roofs that are in southern states, and can decrease cooling bills.

The reflective metal used in the barrier will prevent the heat from the sun from turning the external side of your roof into an oven. No amount of insulation will actually prevent total heat transfer, and the more the temperature difference there will be, the more the heat transfer. So, by reducing the temperature in your garret, you make the job easy for your insulator, and keep the hot air out and the cold air in.

Does radiant barrier airbrush work? Does home depot spray work? Does radiant barrier cleaner work? Those are a few questions that keep popping up when we opt for radiant barrier spray.

Most people are of the opinion that if they have a satisfactory insulation, they don't require a radiant barrier. This is not true because traditional insulators function very differently from the radiant barriers to help keep your house warm. A radiant barrier takes care of the heat which is radiating into your garret space from outside. On the other hand, a traditional insulation serves primarily to trap air, thus preventing transfer of heat due to movement of air known as convection. So, does radiant barrier spray work? Even though you are having an adequate traditional insulation, you can always go for a radiant barrier too which will benefit you by stopping heat radiation into the house from outside.
